THE experts from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) and World Health Organization (WHO), in their initial reports, have deemed the TB Reference Center of the Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao as adequate, regional health department Infectious Diseases Cluster Head Dr. Ian Gonzales reported.

Gonzales on Wednesday, April 8, said that according to the reports from the RITM and WHO, who visited the TB facility located at the DOH regional office in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, the facility is “adequate” as its already capable of handling airborne pathogens.

“Ang ato na lang kailangan i-work out diha is ang training sa staff and the availability nato sa machine because so far ang atoang machine sa TB lab dili pa sya compatible for Covid,” Gonzales said.

He added that the experts from RITM and WHO are visiting other laboratories in the city, including the laboratory in Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), on Wednesday.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno, for his part, said they are doing everything they can to accelerate the putting up of testing machines in the city.

The final findings of their evaluation will be given at the end of the week, Gonzales said.
