MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano announced on Thursday, April 26, the forging of yet another coalition as he confirmed that Misamis Oriental 1st District Representative Peter Unabia has now joined their camp.

Emano made the announcement a day after confirming that the Padayon Pilipino has joined forces with the Guingonas of Gingoog City.

Unabia, like the Guingonas, ran in the 2016 elections under the Liberal Party. Unabia is now a member of the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

"Duna na tay coalition kang Congressman Unabia. Ang Padayon Pilipino nag-uban na kang Congressman Unabia sa mga kalungsoran ug dakbayan (We already have coalition with Cong. Unabia. The Padayon Pilipino is with Congressman Unabia now),"Emano said.

The governor declined to provide more details on the new alliances being formed by his political party but said more coalitions will be declared at the proper time.

For his part, Unabia said having ties with Emano and the Padayon Pilipino means “better public service.”

"Yes we have coalition. Coalition/Unity for better governance and better service," Unabia said.

The incumbent Misamis Oriental governor on Wednesday bared that they have forged a partnership with the Guingonas.

Former Misamis Oriental governor and Cagayan de Oro City mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano, the patriarch of the Emano clan, had been at odds with Ruthie Guingona when the two ran against each other for governor in 1995.

Emano was initially proclaimed governor but the Commission on Elections subsequently removed Emano after the latter was found guilty of cheating Guingona, the mother of incumbent Gingoog City Mayor Marie Guingona.
