Cagayan de Oro bags 7 boxing golds

CAGAYAN de Oro City’s boxing team bagged seven golds, two silvers and a bronze in the Philippine Sports Commission-Senator Manny Pacquiao Amateur Boxing National Finals on Sunday in Mandaue City.

Team CdeO nearly completed a nine-gold sweep in the finals of the prestigious national boxing tournament.

Mark Lester Durenz, John Ignatius Macas, John Paul Paunayan and John Erl Palivino lorded it over in their respective weight categories in men’s division.

Ailene Caranagan, Elaide Pamisa, and Althea Lenne Pores produced three more gilts in the women’s section.

Bryan Caspe and Kim Bryan Cabrillos fell short in the finals to settle for silver with Lyca Caranagan ending up with a bronze.

“Mayor Oscar Moreno is pleased with the results that could attest the city’s great boxing program,” said Cagayan de Oro City sports overseer Rocky Calingin.
