DRAGON boat teams from Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities won the championship trophies and medals in two categories for the 2nd Panagsangka sa Banawa and 6th Bugsay Mindanao Paddle for Peace, held in Cortes, Surigao del Sur on March 17.

Iligan's Bakunawa claimed the 2000-meter Standard Open Category finishing 11 minutes and 25 seconds, another from the city that placed second is the team Baku Uno finishing at 11 minutes and 30 seconds.

Cagayan de Oro's Brave Heart Dragon Boat Team, bagged the 200-meter Mix category, besting others with finishing time of one minute and three seconds, and 24 milliseconds.

The composite team of Liceo de Cagayan University dragon boat alumni, students from Cagayan de Oro College-Phinma, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, and newly formed Cagayan de Oro-based Rapid Riders, also placed third in the 2000-meter Mix category.

Another group from the Cagayan de Oro, the CGY Oro Dragons placed fifth as Minor B Champions in 200-meter Mix Category, with a finishing time of one minute, three seconds, and 73 milliseconds.

The team, meanwhile, finished second in 200-meter Small Boat Women Category, as it lost to Kujaw Tiger Dragon A, the host municipalities’ homegrown team.

Davao City's Dragon Warriors Davao also made a feat for winning two championships for 200-meter and 2000-meter Open Standard Boat Categories.
