THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 is eyeing to roll out its Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) program in the region in June 2019 to allow more business ventures to flourish in the barangay level.

DTI 7 Director Asteria Caberte initially identified Bohol as the pilot area for NSB, following the accelerated developments in the province.

But she said more areas will be identified after the new set of local officials will assume office.

“We will introduce this program to barangays in 4th and 5th class municipalities. We are going to hand-hold the barrio folks in teaching them how to be entrepreneurs,” said Caberte, adding that this initiative will improve the livelihood in the barrios.

DTI’s NSB has been conducted in several barangays around the country. Its services include information campaigns on the Go Negosyo Act, Business Name Law, financial literacy and Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso (P3).

NSB also offers entrepreneurship seminars, bookkeeping and accounting for non-accountants, product development and related skills training, among others through the Negosyo Centers. (KOC)
