A DENTAL clinic has expanded its operation in Lapu-Lapu City to cash in on the city’s booming tourism industry.

Green Apple Dental Clinic chief executive officer Dr. David Alesna said they opened a new clinic in Mactan Newtown to cater the expected high dental demand of locals and foreigners in the area.

He said the clinic aims to become a game-changer in dental tourism by offering digital dentistry.

“We’re one of the very few dental clinics in the country that introduces digital dentistry. We feel that we should explore new fields in the industry in order to gain a foothold in our craft. Digital dentistry is still a new and complex field in the west and we are proceeding slowly in order to familiarize ourselves with the basics,” Alesna said.

Digital dentistry is the use of digital or computer-controlled equipment to carry out dental procedures rather than using mechanical or electrical tools.

Green Apple Dental Clinic opened its second branch in Cebu province inside Megaworld’s township project Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019.

Alesna said the expansion in Mactan area is a step in the right direction on the back of the island’s booming tourism, office and residential businesses.

“We saw the need (to expand here) because there are a lot of hotels and high-end condominiums coming up in this area. We saw the need to provide a premier dental clinc,” Alesna said.

Mactan, he noted, is a good launching pad for Cebu’s dental tourism industry because the island offers a pleasant vibe for recuperation and relaxation that any foreign tourist is willing to pay.

Green Apple Dental clinic co-owner Dr. Gamaliel Urbi said around 40 percent of the patients they attract are foreigners.

“That is because our facilities are really world-class. We have state-of-art technology and whatever is the latest in digital dentistry, we are all out. We spend everything and no holds barred when it comes to technology,” Urbi said.

He said dental tourism is one of the emerging facets of tourism because Filipino dentists are known globally to be the best in the field.

Green Apple Dental Clinic is equipped with an intra-oral scanner that secures an imprint of the patient’s teeth that eliminates the procedure of a teeth mold. It also has the latest x-ray machine that can handle panoramic x-rays, cephalometric x-ray, TMJ x-ray and CBCT scans. (JOB)
