GLOBE has started its network upgrades in eight key areas in Visayas and Mindanao to address the growing connectivity needs of its customers. The network upgrades will provide mobile customers with better data and call experience while broadband customers will experience improved data services.

Network activities are scheduled in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu CIty, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City and Boracay in Aklan from September until the end of 2020.

There are currently a lot of households that are looking to be connected for work, learning and entertainment due to the community quarantine. Globe hopes to fill this demand with its aggressive network upgrades and expansion that will happen in different parts of the country.

“We are adding capacity throughout the country to serve the increasing data demand of our customers and continuously improve network service quality. Our teams are out there deploying new technologies, new equipment as we heed the call of the nation for better data connectivity,” said Ernest Cu, Globe president and chief executive officer.

The upgrade of existing infrastructure in VisMin involves building new cell sites and adding more 4G/LTE technologies to increase data capacity and improve internet speeds.

Customers in the affected areas may experience temporary disruption in their mobile and broadband data services during this period. Globe shall issue an SMS advisory to its affected mobile and broadband customers prior to the scheduled upgrade activities.

Every year, Globe allocates a significant portion of its service revenues to capital spending, majority of which goes to network and capacity builds. This is part of the company’s commitment to support 10 of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG No. 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure since investments in infrastructure are crucial for the country to achieve sustainable development.
