THE Mandaue City Government plans to establish a promotions center aimed at attracting and guiding potential investors to put up their businesses in the city.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes told SunStar Cebu they plan to have a Mandaue Investment Promotion Action Center (Mipac).

“We’re now in the process of providing a space for the Mipac and also on our plans that government centers, part and parcel of it is to have an exhibit center for Mandaue products,” Cortes said during the opening ceremony of the “Magnificiently Mandaue” exhibit for the Mandaue Business Month 2019.

Cortes said they target to improve the development in the city to attract investors and most importantly, generate more jobs for the people.

With this, infrastructure in the city will be prioritized to usher in potential businesses and make bureaucratic processes easier for business owners, Cortes said.

“It’s a multi-approach. We have to improve our infrastructure to invite more businesses. Our main purpose is to turn the current situation into a better situation, and that’s exactly what we’re doing to make Mandaue a business-friendly city,” he said.

The Mipac will give investors an idea on what they could expect their business to grow into, the mayor said.

“This will promote investment promotions in Mandaue, especially to those who are planning to invest in the city. This office will help guide future investors on insights on what’s in Mandaue and what Mandaue can offer them,” he said.

All welcome

He welcomed all types of investments, both local and foreign, to add to the economic activity in the city.

He said boosting Mandaue-made products would help the city become more locally and internationally recognized.

“We are willing to accept any type of business for as long as it not just provides revenues for the city. The better if it can generate employment to Mandauehanons,” he said.

Mandaue is home to more than 10,000 businesses, from food processing, furniture, manufacturing to industrial firms.
