Tax Notes: Acceptance of tax payments during ECQ

Sunnexdesk

On April 15, 2020, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) published Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) 43-2020 in line with the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to alleviate concerned taxpayers from filing their tax returns and paying taxes due during the period. Taxpayers now have the option to:

Pay taxes at the nearest Authorized Agent Bank (AAB) regardless of Revenue District Office (RDO) jurisdiction; or

File and pay the corresponding tax due to the Revenue Collection Officer (RCO) of the nearest RDO even in areas where there are AABs;

Any of the payment options is available, provided that the tax payment in cash should not exceed P20,000. Tax payments in check do not have any limitation if paid through the RCO during the ECQ. Finally, all checks should be made payable to the Bureau of Internal Revenue; the name of the receiving AAB branch should no longer be indicated on the check for tax payment.

Please be guided accordingly.
