A SUBSIDIARY of Vivant Energy Corp. has been chosen to supply 15 megawatts (MW) of net dependable capacity to Bantayan Island, a major tourist destination in northern Cebu.

Following a competitive selection process (CSP), the Bantayan Electric Cooprative (Banelco) awarded a 15-year power supply contract to the consortium of Vivant Integrated Diesel Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Vivant Energy and Gigawatt Power Inc.

To ensure availability of dependable power, the installation and operation of a 23 MW power plant in the island will be undertaken by the consortium.

The supply contract expands Vivant Energy’s capacity in the off-grid small power utilities group sector.

“By providing reliable and stable power to Banelco, we contribute to the continued growth of Bantayan Island while fulfilling our mission to give our customers energy solutions developed using existing and emerging technologies,” Vivant Energy chief operating officer Emil Andre Garcia said.

“As Vivant Energy continues to grow its investments in Luzon, Mindanao and in other parts of the Visayas, Cebu will always be among our priorities being the home province of parent company Vivant Corp.
