A new life phase, a new dining place

Chinggay Utzurrum

HEARD of Life Coaching? It’s a relatively new life phase that has landed in Cebu! “Life Coaching 101” provides individuals from all walks of life with an understanding of coaching and its relevance in today’s complex and opportunistic era. It is common knowledge that we are almost totally immersed in social media that continuously challenges the well-being of our generation. A session maps out further how professional coaching can improve and enhance mental wellness in the country.

The first Life Coaching program in Region 7, was held at Cebu Grand Hotel last month by the Life Coach Training Institute. It was truly a milestone, with an unprecedented 40-plus attendees.

Here is a profile of the select gathering that evening: personalities already practicing coaching at work, specifically, guidance counselors, teachers, Church ministers, businessmen, local government unit representatives, non-governmental organization volunteers, community and health workers, students, and “go-to” persons in their families and circle of friends.

Vibrant personalities who facilitated the program: Master Coach Adette “Coach A” Purto, certified Life Coach and the global partner for the Asian Region of the Life Coach Training Institute based in Dallas, Texas, USA. Assisting her were fellow certified coaches: Kay Zabala from Region 8, Candee Teng and Dani Purto from Manila, and Mel Acido and Belle Paraz from Cebu.

Don’t fret! Cebu will have its own “Life Coaching 101” on April 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Maayo Hotel, Mandaue City.

For more information, one may contact Coach Mel at 0917-136-3125.

We were amused and amazed at the perky cowgirl and cowboy get-ups of the food servers at this new dining spot, located at Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Along the road, it has this un-mistakable sign: “Try Me.” And so we did!

A new Sheriff is in town: Sheriff’s Grill is a Wild West dining area created to feed hungry cowgirls and boys, by serving home-prepared, sumptuous, value for money dishes, that’s heavy on the tummy but not on the pocket! As you seat yourself in the Western-style saloon, ambience is definitely fun and family-oriented. There is even a tree within the saloon for an authentic feel! The resto is famous for its ribs, barbecue and sizzlers, as the photos today show. Aside from these, your stomach will surely crave for the sizzling squid, shrimps and bangus. And not to forget the basic favorites: Beef bulalo, chicken tinola, salmon sinigang, pork belly, crispy chicken wings etc.

More importantly, during this Lenten season, feast your eyes and tongue with talong, pinakbet and adobong kangkong!

Remember, Sheriff’s Grill is not only for lone rangers but also for the entire town as well. See you there!
