Kekert: CIS Education Forum 2019

Kristalle Kekert

HIGHLIGHTING the best practices in teaching and learning, Cebu International School (CIS) hosted an Education Forum which took place at the campus located in Pit-os, Cebu City, inviting teachers from schools all over Cebu and beyond.

With an overwhelming number of attendees for the afternoon event, CIS was very pleased to have 200 local private and public school educators join 50 of the CIS academic staff. Consisting of three sessions, invited teachers chose one topic per session from over 15 choices (an overall selection of over 50) where they can learn strategies in the classroom from Preschool to Grade 12, having both the CIS teachers and Administration conduct all these sessions and presentations.

Some of these topics included “Co-Constructive Learning in Early Years,” “PE Fun Games and Strategies,” “Reading Aloud in Elementary,” “Developmental Learning,” “Drama Integration Across the Curriculum,” “Service Learning, Rigor and Relevance Framework,” “Inquiry-Based Learning in Grade 6-10,” “Online vs Face to Face Training,” “Creating the Conditions for Learning in your Organization,” “E-Portfolios and Classroom Website,” “TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior)” and more!

It was wonderful to see the CIS faculty share and showcase their expertise and give back to the host country in this way!

Organized by Jennifer Basa (CIS college/careers counselor and alumni liaison) and her team, the support from various sponsors enabled the school to host the event, including free food and transport for all the participants!
