IT’S celebration time!

The Korean Consulate in Cebu marked Korean National Day at the posh Marco Polo Plaza Hotel recently, in all manner of pomp and splendor.

Korean Consul General in Cebu Oh Sung Yong and charming wife Park Okkyung were gracious hosts as they welcomed guests of the city’s officialdom, as well as prestigious members of the consular corps in Cebu.

A significant moment was when Madame Park met with His Excellency, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Archbishop Osvaldo Padilla, a full-blown Cebuano prelate! Entertainment-wise, a Korean percussion performance “Nanta” was presented by Korean group “Ta-Pos.”

Very visible VIPs were Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, who gave a stirring welcome, and Police Regional Office 7 Director Police Supt. Debold Sinas, who led the toast.

Still making up the official provincial list were Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, with mayors and vice mayors from some municipalities, all wishing the Korean Consul a prosperous National Day. Cheers!
