Study: Women sleep better with dogs than humans

Monica R. Lopez

SORRY, boys! A new study shows that women sleep better next to a dog than with a human companion.

In a study conducted by Dr. Christy L. Hoffman, a professor in the Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation department at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, together with a team of researchers, they discovered that women who share their beds with a dog feel more restful and sleep better.

Participants of the study also reported that their dogs are less disruptive compared to human partners and cats, and were associated with stronger feelings of comfort and security, which means more chances of quiet time and waking up feeling refreshed.

But according to Hoffman, the "keyword here is perception, this [study is based on] individuals self-reporting how they feel their sleep is affected" and it's important to take note that this is based on data and average of responses, adding that the study requires further research.

Still, you have this as an excuse to snuggle up with your doggo.
