Su-paw heroes and villains

PARKMALL celebrated its annual Pet Festival Philippines last May 4 to 6. On its third run, the event was a three-day gathering of all animal lovers and pet owners aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.

The days were filled with tons of activities, competitions as well as showcasing of pet products and services. One of the highlights was the anticipated pet costume competition “Pawshionista Philippines,” with the theme “Heroes and Villains.” Apart from the chance to dress up as one’s favorite character, contestants were free to create their own characters.

Pets like dogs and cats donned dramatic costumes together with their owners, and walked the runway last May 5 on stage near the main entrance of the mall. There were two categories: Pet, and Pet and Handler category.

Persian cat Yuki, dressed as Harley Quinn, was the grand champion of the Pet category.First runner-up was a Shih Tzu named Bleu as Darth Vader and Siberian Husky Miskah as Bat Girl was second runner-up. For the Pet and Handler category, Kring Moynihan as Poison Ivy was the grand champion together with pet Darna (Shih Tzu). Special awards were given to Bernard Baird Bogard together with pet Nyle Aesop (Siberian Husky) dressed as Foot Bolt, and Sabrina Ruth Bogard with Persian cat Missy dressed as Ballet Storm. The event also featured special guest RD Lastimosa who has been participating in the Pawhionista competition since 2010. Mary Ann Lumayag together with Shipoo named Muffin dressed as a character called Demon Destroyer was awarded “Best New Villain.” Chiqy May Completo with a Yorkie named Cela dressed as Cela the Sea Guardian was awarded “Best New Hero.”
