Utzurrum: Welcome dinners and recollections

Chinggay V. Utzurrum

“IT’S great getting together again,” chorused the travel group from Cebu that attended the solemn canonization rites of St. Pedro Calungsod in Rome some eight years ago. The “gang” met for dinner at the new Balay sa Busay Restaurant at Tops Road, overlooking the city’s spectacular nightscape!

It was also a welcome repast for California-based jetsetter, Theresian Cebuana Maribel Kokseng-Kratz, who drops by Cebu regularly.

The guests, travel maven Marilou Ordoñez and passengers Fe Velasco, Dr. Patsy Calderon, Maribel, and this writer, partook of rich local cuisine like the Paboritong Sisig ni Tatay, Adobong Binisaya, Chickenillo, Shrimps in Buko, Lechon Tinola paired with Pochero Rice etc!

Mmmm, will surely be back for more!

No sooner had she stepped into her front door, it was time for Maribel to organize the annual California-based Theresians Recollection and Reunion.

The “One Cebu” event took place recently at the Church of the Incarnation Community Center in Glendale, with Rev. Joaquin “Boom” Martinez S.J., a very effective speaker!

So welcome over a hundred attendees: Some of them were Evelyn Sanchez. Cynthia Regner-Logarta, Jodsefa “Pepang” Verallo, Consuelo “Inday” Climaco-Kingsley, Lilia Tagorda-Fischer, Dymphna Urgello-Ybañez, Rosalie Ceballos, Eden Pastor-Longoria, Delsa Sy-Langford, Pearl Mendoza-Calderon, Maridel Tan, Marietta Erasmo-Rogers, Maryann Paloma-Sumaya, Mamie Marigomen and Maribel K. Kratz.

Same time next year huh, Theresians?
