AT LEAST 11 houses were affected when a late afternoon blaze hit Sitio Sto. Niño Laguna in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022.

Of the 11 houses that were affected, seven were destroyed while four others were damaged, said FO2 Fulbert Navarro of the Cebu City Fire Office.

Navarro told reporters they received the alarm at 4:08 p.m.

The fire was placed on first alarm at 4:12 p.m. and was eventually place under control at 4:40 p.m. The fire’s damage to properties was pegged at P300,000.

Navarro said the fire reportedly began at the house of Artemio Satoquia. The blaze was reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit but Navarro added that they are verifying the matter.

While no fatalities were reported during the incident, Ryan Trazona, a fire volunteer based in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, was rushed to the hospital, after complaining of breathing difficulties while responding to the fire.
