2 drug suspects shot dead on separate occasions

TWO suspected drug pushers were killed in separate police operations in the southern town of San Fernando, Cebu.

The suspects, identified as John Mark Geraldiz and Joseph Villacorta Ensina, allegedly resisted arrest and pulled out their firearms.

On Sunday morning, Dec. 13, 2020, the team led by San Fernando Police Station Chief Janus Giangan conducted a drug bust against Geraldiz in Barangay Pitalo.

Police said Geraldiz noticed he was dealing with authorities after he handed a sachet of shabu worth P300 to a decoy.

It was then he allegedly drew his .38 revolver and pulled the trigger several times. However, the gun malfunctioned.

Operatives retaliated and hit Geraldiz several times. Geraldiz was rushed to a public hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The evidence seized included 6.86 grams of shabu worth P46,648.



On Saturday, Dec. 12, Ensina was also killed in a drug bust in Barangay Cabatbatan.

According to police, the suspect pulled out his .38 revolver after he realized he was dealing with anti-narcotics operatives, who were quick to defend themselves by taking cover. They then shot Ensina, who was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
