AN ELECTRIC tricycle (e-trike) driver and his companion were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

The operatives of Talisay City Police Station conducted the raid that led to the arrest of Eduardo Mercader Sestoso, 22, an e-trike driver, and Bernie Monterde Prajes, 43.

Sestoso hails from Barangay Suba, Cebu City but temporarily residing in Barangay Dumlog, while Prajes is a native of Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said they monitored Sestoso for two weeks prior to the operation after receiving information from their other captives about the illegal drug activity of the suspect.

Seized from them were 70 grams of substance believed to be shabu worth around P500,000.

It was learned that Sestoso started selling illegal drugs in December 2022 and can dispose of up to 100 grams of shabu every week.

Prajes, for his part, was arrested for a similar offense in May 2019 and released after two years in captivity.

The two suspects will be facing charges in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (BBT/TPT)
