A TOTAL of 20 persons were apprehended by the Talisay City Police Office for violating the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) guidelines Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Talisay Police Chief Major Gerald Ace Pelare said two were apprehended for not wearing face masks, 12 for failing to show quarantine passes and six for violating curfew.

The apprehended persons will face penalties.

An executive order issued by Talisay City Mayor Gerald "Samsam" Gullas Jr. has required its residents to wear face masks in public places. They are also required to wear their ECQ passes within the territorial jurisdiction of Talisay City at all times.

Consumers should also wear their masks and be able to present their quarantine passes before they are allowed entry in public markets and other business establishments.

A "No ECQ Pass and Face Mask, No Entry" sign is also mandated to be put up outside establishments.

Minors and senior citizens aged 65 years old and above are also prohibited entry in public markets, grocery stores and supermarkets due to the ongoing curfew.

According to the EO, random checking and test buys may be conducted by the City to verify compliance.

Establishments who violate the order will face closure and revocation of business permits. (JCT)
