A 36-YEAR-OLD man was found hanging on a beam of his house in Purok 2, Barangay Santiago, San Francisco in Camotes, northern Cebu on Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022.

Police Corporal Elijah Pareja, investigating officer of San Francisco Police Station, identified the man as Landi Cabreros, construction worker and resident of Barangay Santiago, San Francisco town.

Pareja said that around 6:30 a.m., a concerned citizen called the police station to report about the incident.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim committed suicide.

Pareja said the family of the victim also believes that it was suicide as before the body was found, the victim showed suicidal signs, like not eating, not talking and increased use of alcohol.

The brothers of the victim told police that the man was depressed over the death of his wife, who died after giving birth to their triplets years ago.

The victim had seven children, who were placed under the care of his in-laws before the incident. This reportedly also contributed to his depression.

Pareja said the victim might have killed himself around dawn Wednesday, based on his ligature mark.

The family refused to have the body autopsied. (GDC)
