5K tablets turned over to DepEd Mandaue City

MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes turned over 5,000 tablets for public senior high school students in the city to support them in their distance learning amid Covid-19 pandemic.

He gave the multi-touched tablets to the Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue City Division on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020.

Another set of 15,000 units of tablets for the students in public elementary schools is scheduled to be delivered next week.

The tablets have detachable keyboards and contain the applications approved by the DepEd.

Cortes said his office is in the process of partnering with an internet service provider to install free internet in barangays.

The City also procured 623 laptops for the public school teachers.

The turnover of these gadgets was witnessed by DepEd 7 Director.Salustiano Jimenez.

Jimenez said Mandaue is the first city in Central Visayas that provided tablets for the students.

“It really is of great help to our learners especially that we are on our way toward the next level of the delivery of instruction,” said Jimenez.

The learners can now get their digitized modules through a flash drive and read the contents in the tablets. / KFD
