SIXTY-THREE uniformed and non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Fuente Police Station in Cebu City and three personnel from the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU) of Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 underwent a surprise drug test yesterday afternoon.

Atty. Maria Theresa Macatangay, chief of the Fuente Police Station, said that 60 of their active police officers and three NUPs were tested. “It’s not handpicked. Everyone participated except for one NUP who was in an unauthorized absence. That NUP will be made to explain why he or she wasn’t present,” Macatangay said.

The Fuente police chief, who also took the test, said that the results of the drug test will be released by the crime laboratory after two days.

If a personnel will be found positive of illegal drug use, the result will be subjected to a confirmatory test.

Those who will be found into using illegal drugs, Macatangay said, will be automatically relieved and transferred to the holding unit.

“There will be administrative proceedings and it will be a basis for their dismissal,” she added. (KAL)
