DRIVERS and conductors at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) have complied with Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s executive order requiring them to use wearable air purifiers starting Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021.

CSBT manager Carmen Quijano told SunStar Cebu that terminal guards also make sure that drivers and conductors of buses including taxi drivers have the required air purifiers.

“As what I’ve observed, everyone is compliant. All drivers are wearing air purifiers,” Quijano said in Cebuano.

Drivers and conductors caught not wearing air purifiers, will be issued temporary operators permit (TOP) or a citation ticket.

Quijano said the new health protocol has not affected the terminal’s operations since bus operators have provided air purifiers to their drivers and conductors.

She said passengers are also complying with protocols on the wearing of facemasks and face shields inside the unit.

The Provincial Government has started to provide bus drivers and conductors their monthlong supply of vitamins on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, personnel of the Cebu Police Provincial Office stationed at border control points will check if public utility vehicles have a thermal scanner, footbath, proper ventilation, and are compliant with the rules on maximum passenger capacity. (MVE)
