AN ALLEGED kidnapper was killed by the police during a shooting incident between him and the joint team of the Anti-Kidnapping Group Visayas Field Unit (AKG VFU) and the Minglanilla Police Station on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 11:15 p.m. in Sitio Bantayan, Brgy. Tungkop, Minglanilla.

The kidnapper was identified as Joavani Bogo, adult, whose common-law partner died during the shooting. The police team was led by Police Executive Master Sergeant Zosimo Ravanes.

A .38 caliber revolver with bullets was recovered from Bogo.

Police Staff Sergeant Ernest Laspuña of the Minglanilla Police Station said during an interview with SuperBalita Cebu that they had been monitoring Bogo.

Bogo was the primary suspect in the abduction of a man on June 2, in the parking lot of one of the universities in Cebu City.

It was reported that Bogo noticed the police and fired the first shot, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

Bogo was hit in different parts of his body.

The police officials are still searching for Bogo’s victim, whose name, along with other details of the kidnapping incident, remains confidential for the operation.

According to Laspuña, Bogo was a high value target because of his involvement in illegal drugs, gun running and kidnapping in Cebu. (GPL, MMC)
