Bathalad Sugbo to give posthumous awards to 18 creative writers

EIGHTEEN writers will be conferred with posthumous recognition by the Bathalan-ong Halad sa Dagang (Bathalad) Sugbo during its golden jubilee event on Aug. 19, 2019.

The award will be given in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the development and promotion of the Cebuano literature and language in their lifetime.

The awardees are the late Urias Almagro, Renato Amper, Dionisio Gabriel, Pantaleon Auman, Melito Baclay, Melchor Yburan, Leonilo Estimo, Frank Alforque, Temistokles Adlawan, Fidel Mag-usara, Romeo Birao, Zosimo Cabungcal, Franklin Villa, Jose Tomarong, Teofy del Mar, Raul Figues, Jesus Estano and Gumer Rafanan.

Bathalad Sugbo—then called the Batan-ong Halad sa Dagang—was founded by Dr. Melquiadito M. Allego.

Allego, Ernesto D, Lariosa and Lamberto G. Ceballos comprise the selection committee for the posthumous awardees.
