Call Center training hub opens

LAPU-LAPU City now offers free call center training with the opening Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, of the Call Center Training Hub inside the Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob.

Trainees must be Lapu-Lapu City residents who are at least high school graduates. There is no age limit.

Twenty-five trainees will be accommodated in a two-week training program to be provided by The Results Companies.

After the two weeks, the business process outsourcing (BPO) firm itself will evaluate if the trainees can now qualify to work as call center agents in the BPO’s facilities located in Mactan Newtown.

Then a new batch of trainees gets to undergo the two-week training.

The City Government spent about half a million pesos for the training hub, including its furnishings, two air conditioning units and the painting of the place. The Results Companies provides the computers and the trainer.

Rechie Ycong, 18, of Barangay Pusok, availed herself of the free services in the hope of getting a job in the BPO to help her parents and siblings.

Ycong was unable to finish college due to financial difficulties, since her father is unemployed while her mother is a production worker.

“I’m thankful to the mayor for this free training. This is a big help to us, and I hope that someday I’ll be able to continue my college studies,” Ycong said.( FVQ / CTL )
