Carbon Market development kicks off March 17

MEGAWIDE Construction Corporation and the Cebu City Government will start the P5.5 billion development of Carbon Public Market's Phase 1 with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 17, 2021.

Cebu City Market Administrator Irvin Cabales said after the groundbreaking ceremony, Megawide will proceed with the development of Carbon Market's Unit II.

Cabales said Megawide targets to finish the construction of Unit II by September and transfer vendors and ambulant vendors currently occupying Freedom Park and Warwick Barracks to Unit II.

He said that once work starts for Phase I, Escaño and Calderon streets will be closed as this will be part of the construction site.

Mayor Edgardo Labella reminded the vendors and consumers not to worry about the development of Carbon Market and assured them that no vendors will be displaced in the development of the public market.
