CATG to hold virtual Visita Iglesia

Sunnexdesk

THE Cebu Association of Tour Guides (CATG) will hold a virtual Visita Iglesia tour dubbed “7 Churches, 7 Stories” on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2 p.m. via Zoom.

This is in response to the limited physical Holy Week activities due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Through the virtual Visita Iglesia, CATG will present seven churches in Cebu and tell their histories, patron saints, and their significance to their local communities.

The Department of Tourism Region 7 announced this event on its Facebook page.

READ: ‘Visita Iglesia’ not allowed

Last week, the Archdiocese of Cebu decided to disallow Visita Iglesia during the observance of Holy Week 2021 due to the rising cases of Covid-19 in Cebu and the country.

Cebu City Police Office Director Col. Josefine Ligan welcomed this move, saying that the Church can opt to hold its usual Lenten activities through social media.

Visita Iglesia is a Roman Catholic Lenten tradition to visit seven churches on the evening of Maundy Thursday to reflect on the Passion of Christ and pray before the Blessed Sacrament placed on the churches’ altar for adoration. (NRC)
