THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has assigned more than 60 police officers to patrol the city streets as a way to increase police visibility.

CCPO Chief Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog revealed that 60 police personnel from the Cebu City Mobile Force Company will conduct patrols in the interior section of crime-prone barangays.

Dalogdog said such strategy has been proven effective during the conduct of big events such as during the Misa de Gallo before Christmas and New Year and the Fiesta Señor.

Dalogdog said since they started deploying more police officers to patrol the streets since December last year, they have observed that crimes such as murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of vehicles, and carnapping of motorcycles in the city have decreased.

Dalogdog added the deployment of these police personnel is 24/7. The policemen will be assisted by the members of the Motorcycle Riding Unit who will patrol every night. (AYB / TPT)
