Cebu City cops who have poor shooting skills may lose allowance

POLICE personnel in Cebu City who have poor shooting skills may lose their allowance if they fail in the gun proficiency training that will be revived by the Cebu City Government.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was once recognized as Cebu's Finest due to its good shooting ability.

City Councilor Philip Zafra, chairman of the Committee on Peace and Order Council, said the construction of CCPO's firing range is expected to be completed next week.

As this developed, the City Government will bring back the shooting competition among the CCPO personnel and those who will lose in the activity will be deprived of their allowance.

The City Government will also shoulder the bullets that will be used in the training.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of CCPO, however, appealed to Zafra not to withhold the allowance of police personnel with poor shooting skills in order not to degrade their morale but allow them to undergo seminar on gun proficiency as well as provide them bullets that they can use in their shooting practice to improve their shooting ability.
