Cebu City impresses Mayor Isko

CLEANER.

This was the remark left by Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso after his short visit to Cebu City on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019.

Domagoso was invited to speak before members of the Cebu Lady Lawyers Association during their 32nd anniversary and Christmas party held at the Casino Español on the same day.

Aside from his favorite Cebu’s lechon manok and lechon baboy, he said he is always happy to visit Cebu because it’s a “peaceful and progressive” city.

“Luminis na ‘yung Cebu. Nabawasan ‘yung nasa bangketa (Cebu is much cleaner now. There are fewer structures along the sidewalk). Eh, di good for you. Can you imagine if I am an investor? I saw it. I (would) want to invest here kasi ‘yon ang impression,” he said.

As a general rule, law and order must be implemented whether one is poor, belongs to the middle class or rich, Domagoso said.

“Only God is right, but you have to be just all the time,” he said.

The same principle, he said, should be applied in implementing the government’s mandate to reclaim its roads.

“Most of the roads must be brought back to the people,” he said.

Domagoso said not all vendors selling along the sidewalk are poor.

He said the affected vendors could not use poverty as a defense against road-clearing operations.

The actor-turned-politician said the plight of other ordinary Filipinos, who are mostly using public utility vehicles for their daily commute, must also be considered.

Domagoso, however, denied he will seek a higher position in the 2022 elections.

“I’ll just cross the bridge when I’ll get there. But for now, I have no plans yet,” he said. (WBS)
