CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama has been elected by the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) as its vice president for the Visayas.

In a report provided by the Cebu City Public Information Office on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, Rama was elected to the position during the PDP-Laban’s 40th anniversary and national assembly at the Golden Bay Restaurant in Pasay City on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 29.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte, the party’s chairman, was present during the activity.

Rama thanked the party and Duterte for electing him to the position, adding that his election is both “exhilarating and heartwarming.”

The mayor described his new post as a “promotion” since he had only been the PDP-Laban’s president for Cebu City before.

Aside from Rama, Palawan 2nd District Rep. Jose “Tito” Alvarez was elected as president, while Alfonso Cusi is the party’s vice chairman.

Duterte was also elected chairman of the party, while Sen. Robin Padilla was elected executive vice president.

Aside from Rama, PDP-Laban also elected vice presidents from other parts of the country like Parañaque City 1st District Rep. Edwin Olivarez for the National Capital Region, Sen. Francis Tolentino for Luzon and Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for Mindanao. (PR)
