Child dies by electrocution in Medellin town

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD child died by electrocution in Sitio Sudlonon, Barangay Antipolo, Medellin town in northern Cebu.

The incident took place at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

The victim was identified as David Negro Rosales, a kindergarten pupil.

Police Staff Sergeant Rosano Quedding, investigator of Medellin Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that there was no foul play involved in the child’s death.

Quedding said the father of the victim, Dominador Rosales, 23, reported the incident to their station at 4:45 p.m.

Dominador told the police that while he and the victim were watching television in their bedroom, he left to get something. When he came back, the child ran towards him and fell.

"Pagbalik niya ang bata midagan padulong niya misugat! Kalit nga nahagba nawad-ag panimoot" Quedding said.

(When he came back, the child rushed over him. He suddenly fell and lost consciousness).

Dominador claimed he was unable to hug his son because the latter dropped before he could.

The victim was transported from the Rural Health Center to Bomedco (Bogo-Medellin Medical Center), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the police investigation, the child got the puller near the extension wire and inserted it into the plug.(GPL, TPT)
