City starts giving seniors' cash aid

THE Mandaue City Government started distributing the last tranche of financial assistance to the senior citizens on Monday morning, Dec. 10. First to receive the P2,000 were the residents of Barangays Centro, Guizo and Mantuyong who are 60 years old and above. The cash gifts were distributed at the Mandaue City Sports Complex. The other senior citizens can get their financial assistance from their Helps centers. The distribution will continue until Friday, Dec. 14. nearly 20,000 senior citizens are residents of Mandaue City. They receive an annual assistance of P6,000. The first and second tranches were given last April and August, respectively, this year. On Dec. 18-21, the City Treasurer’s office (CTO) will conduct special releases to senior citizens who would fail to get their cash gifts. An authorized relative of a bedridden elderly can get their money from the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) by presenting an authorization letter and medical certificate signed by either a doctor or any health officer, including the barangay health worker. More than 4,000 differently-abled persons will receive their P3,000 cash gift on Monday, Dec. 17. In Lapu-Lapu City, each of the 25,000 senior citizens received P4,000 as cash gift.
