THE north u-turn slot at the South Road Properties will reopen on schedule despite last Friday’s bad weather, an official said. Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) Operations Chief Francisco Ouano said that the closure order in the area, which started at 11 p.m. last Friday, will be lifted at 2 a.m. on Sept. 17 since its repair has already been completed.

“The rains did not affect the maintenance works of the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways). It did not also cause traffic but we will continue to field our traffic enforcers,” he said.

Once the u-turn slot is accessible again, CCTO will reinstall the metal railings in the center of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR).

Last February, Mayor Tomas Osmeña ordered the installation of metal railings in the center of the CSCR to prevent drivers from accessing the old u-turn slots due to several accidents in the area.

It was temporarily reopened last Friday night to allow a diversion route for northbound vehicles. Ouano said three traffic enforcers per eight-hour shift will continue to man the traffic in the area. Signboards to guide motorists will also be installed in the surrounding area. (RTF)
