VOTERS in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the towns of Cordova and Consolacion have a chance to see what a vote counting machine (VCM) looks like and to get familiar with it before the midterm elections in May.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been conducting a road show so voters can participate in a mock vote and enter their ballots in the VCMs.

According to Mandaue City Election Officer Anna Fleur Gujilde, Comelec employees have also been demonstrating the proper way to shade a ballot so it won’t be rejected by the VCM.

The mock election will be held on the third floor of the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City on Saturday morning, Feb. 9.

“We are encouraging our shoppers or those who have nothing to do on Saturday to visit the mall and try our VCM, especially the new voters aron makasuway sila unsaon paggamit sa maong (so they’ll know how to use the) machine kay mao nani atong gamiton karong (which will be used this) election. Mao na nuon ni atong gigamit pag (Although we used the same machine during the) 2016 elections,” she said.

The VCMs will be brought to the Mandaue City Sports Complex in Barangay Centro on Feb. 11 and Feb. 18.

The road show started last Jan. 30 and will end on Feb. 28.

This week, the VCMs were brought to Consolacion.
