THE Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is reminding residents of hazard-prone areas to conduct preemptive evacuation in case of landslides and flooding during heavy downpours.

Julius Regner, PDRRMO information officer, said that they are closely monitoring areas that have been identified as landslide-prone and flood- prone since Monday, when parts of Cebu experienced heavy to moderate rainfall.

Regner also advised local disaster risk reduction and management offices (LDRRMOs) in the province to closely monitor areas where landslides and flooding frequently occur to prevent possible casualties.

In case heavy rains do occur in an affected area, Regner advised LDRRMOs to immediately implement preemptive evacuation of nearby residents.

Meanwhile, Regner announced that the Provincial Government will give burial assistance to the family of Larry Bajenting, who was killed when lightning struck his house in Barangay Canbanua, Argao last Monday. (JKV)
