A 34-YEAR-OLD police officer was shot to death before noontime Tuesday, April 24, outside Plaza Independencia on M.J. Cuenco Ave. in Cebu City.

Senior Police Officer 3 Rommel Bancog, homicide investigator, identified the fatality as Police Officer 2 Kenneth Pogoy.

He said they are investigating all angles on the murder, including the possibility it was drug-related.

Pogoy was reportedly assigned in a police station in Marawi City.

Pogoy succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the chest and other parts of his body. Pogoy's father went mad at the medical team personnel for their failure to immediately attend to his son.

A civilian, identified as Edward Hinampas, was hit in the body by a stray bullet.

Bancog said Pogoy came from a court hearing in Qimonda Building-Cebu City Hall of Justice before the incident.

Crime Scene Investigation personnel gathered empty shells and slugs.

The police said that Pogoy possibly fired his service .9mm pistol at the assailant. They found a slug of .9mm pistol. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
