THE Department of Education (DepEd) Talisay City Division still requires students to wear a face mask.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order (EO) 3 on September 12, allowing the voluntary use of face mask in outdoor settings.

The Talisay City Schools Division said they would adhere to the order of Marcos, except when the students are inside the classrooms, wherein the wearing of face masks should be required, said Rosario Dioko, School Governance and Operation chief of DepEd Talisay City Division.

As of the moment, DepEd Talisay is following the order of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia's EO 5, which made the wearing of face masks optional in open space and well-ventilated areas.

The EO 5 is also being recognized by the Talisay City Health Office (TCHO).

Dr. Lino Alanzado, head of TCHO, said the wearing of face mask would protect the teachers and students from the coronavirus and other infectious diseases.

At present, DepEd Talisay is implementing three days of limited face-to-face classes and two days of modular, home-based learning.
