DR. Jesus Pilapil Estanislao, a Filipino economist and governance thought leader, will launch his book, “Governance in the Philippines: Spanish Colonial Rule 1565-1898,” at the Banquet & Special Events Hall of the University of San Carlos (USC) downtown campus from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 29.

Estanislao has returned from his scholarly travels to Barcelona, Spain to bring home an academic work that aims to benefit the country on its way to becoming the “Dream Philippines.”

“Governance in the Philippines: Spanish Colonial Rule, 1565-1898,” written at IESE Business School, is the pilot volume in a series that looks at the Philippines through the minds of its conquerors to discover the roots of Philippine economy and governance.

It aims to encourage a new generation of scholars to look at strategy in a historical context, and to apply pivotal learnings from the country’s years under colonial rule to national governance in the modern day.
