A SUSPECTED drug pusher was killed in a shootout with the anti-narcotics personnel of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, in Sitio Kimba, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, Cebu.

The operatives seized 115 grams of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu.” The contraband has a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1.3 million.

The fatality was identified as Socrates “Isok” Dacay, a resident of Kimba. He allegedly resisted arrest.

Senior Inspector Alejandro Batobalonos, CPPO-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, said they caught Dacay's alleged cohort, Marlon Rura Navarro, 49.

The operatives from Provincial Intelligence Branch and Talisay City Police Station also joined in the drug bust.

Batobalonos said they learned about Dacay's involvement in illegal drug trade after some residents in Kimba reported his activities.

He said Dacay pretended to be a coachman to hide his illegal activities.

A surveillance confirmed Dacay as a pusher in the area.

Navarro will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL)
