Dumaguete City native named as new director of Cebu City Police Office

A NATIVE of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriential is the new chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Col. Ernesto Salvador Tejada Tagle will assume office on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, replacing Col. Josefino Ligan.

Tagle is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1993. One of his previous assignments included the Police Community Affairs and Development Group in Camp Crame, the police headquarters in Metro Manila.

Ligan served as the CCPO director for a year and nine months. He started his stint in April 2020 when Cebu City was in the early stage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The police official supervised the CCPO’s strict implementation of public health protocols such as wearing of face masks and observance of social distancing. During his time, the CCPO seized over P300 million worth of illegal drugs.

Ligan was transferred to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas.

“It was and will always be my life’s honor to have served as the city director of Cebu City Police Office. Although challenging, it has been a great one year and nine months with all the experiences, accomplishments and learnings I earned,” read a portion of Ligan’s Facebook post. AYB / KAL
