A 45-YEAR-OLD farmer was found dead inside his hut in Sitio Barucan, Barangay Lugo in the northern town of Borbon, Cebu on Friday afternoon, Aug. 19, 2022.

SSgt. Raffe Tejares, investigating officer of the Borbon Police Station, identified the victim as Cruz Moneva.

Tejares said the body was discovered by a neighbor around 3 p.m.

Alberto Dichos Sr. said he went to the victim’s house to inform him that his cow had gotten loose. However, when he got there, he saw the victim lying dead on the floor.

Based on the initial investigation, Moneva didn’t have any enemies.

Although police ruled out foul play, they advised his family to have his body autopsied to determine the cause of death.

However, the family said it couldn’t afford the procedure.

Moneva’s family described him as very hardworking and concluded that he died in his sleep as he spent long hours working in the field. (GDC)
