THE suspect who admitted to killing 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan was identified as 43-year-old Renato Llenes.

Llenes, a father of five, admitted to reporters in a press conference at the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Thursday, April 11, that he was under the influence of illegal drugs when he murdered Silawan on the evening of March 10.

Llenes said he met Silawan through Facebook by using the dummy account "CJ Diaz."

He admitted that he had a relationship with the 16-year-old girl through Facebook and decided to meet with her personally on March 10.

He and Silawan eventually met in front of the Sacred Heart Parish in Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City.

Llenes told reporters that upon seeing that he was older than what he claims on Facebook, Silawan decided to walk away from him. This prompted Llanes to chase Silawan until they reached Sitio Mahayahay in Barangay Bankal.

Llenes said upon reaching the area, he asked Silawan to have sex with him but she refused.

He was irked when Silawan told him she was no longer a virgin.

Llenes then started mauling Silawan and attempted to rape her but could not do so because he could not get an erection.

Using a pair of scissors, Llenes then stabbed Silawan several times until she died.

He then started peeling Silawan's face, so she could not be identified if her body was found.

Llenes admitted he learned to peel off the skin of the face through instructional videos posted on Facebook and through the controversial Momo Challenge.

He said he regretted doing the deed after his conscience haunted him.

Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, said they will be filing separate murder charges against Llanes following his admission to killing Silawan.

Albayalde said aside from killing Silawan, Llenes was also identified as part of the drug watchlist of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Following his arrest last Tuesday, Llenes admitted to killing Silawan through an extrajudicial confession in the presence of his private counsel and a lawyer from the Public Attorney's Office.
