POLICE arrested a man who won in the recent Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections because he alleged carried some 300 grams of dried marijuana in his knapsack.

Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, chief of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), identified him as Jesjoma Nomar Aranas, 20, who was recently elected as number one SK councilor in one of the barangays in Baybay, Leyte.

He’s now detained in Mandaue after being arrested last Saturday. The police said that as soon as he arrived in Pier 1, Aranas met with a man and handed over the bag. He then proceeded to Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City, apparently to board another boat back to Leyte.

A team led by Chief Insp. Aldrin Villacampa, who was manning a checkpoint, stopped him. Aside from the 300 grams of dried marijuana, the police said, some 1,000 stalks were also found in the knapsack. Aranas is reportedly the son of a teacher and a policeman. (FVQ)
