A MAN died after he was shot by an unidentified robber inside the Miles Internet Cafe in Sitio Abuno, Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City on Friday night, Aug. 23, 2019.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Francis Jakosalem, a resident of Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.

According to initial investigation, the culprit suddenly entered the establishment past 11 p.m. and approached the counter where Jakosalem, the cafe’s attendant, was counting the day’s earnings. It was learned that the latter was about to close shop.

Witnesses said the victim tried to fight off the intruder, but the latter shot him in the head with a still unidentified firearm. The gunman then fled with an estimated P7,000 in cash.

Police Corporal Mark Gallen Moralde said they discounted the possibility that the gunman was someone the victim had a run-in with since customers at the cafe said Jakosalem was a nice person who had no known enemies.

Moralde also believed the gunman had a companion who served as a lookout.

Police are conducting a manhunt for the two men, who will be charged with robbery and homicide if they are arrested.

Moralde urged owners of internet cafes to install security cameras inside and outside their establishments or to hire security guards to serve as deterrents to crime. (from ANV of Superbalita Cebu/PJB)
