AT LEAST 206 applicants were hired on the spot during the second job fair this year in Lapu-Lapu City Friday, April 14, 2023.

But the filled-up positions only represent 12.19 percent of the 1,689 job openings offered by around 39 companies.

Kim Francisco, head of the City’s Public Employment Service Office (Peso), said they were targeting at least 16 percent to be hired on the spot for the job vacancies.

The second job fair this year was held at The Outlets in Pueblo Verde, MEZ 2 in Barangay Basak with at least 1,050 registered applicants.

Francisco said it was part of the month-long activities in relation to the Kadaugan sa Mactan this April.

The activity was organized by the City Government, through Peso and the Department of Labor and Employment-Central Visayas, Aboitiz InfraCapital and Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ 2) estates.
