A SUSPECTED 23-year-old drug user was nabbed by operatives of the San Nicolas Police Station of the Cebu City Police Office on Friday, March 27, 2020, for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece.

Police Corporal Jerley Enad, investigator of the Women and Children Protection Desk, said the girl was accompanied by her mother when they filed the complaint against the former’s paternal uncle.

Enad said Danica (real name withheld) seemed to be afraid of her uncle Jun (not his real name) when the two met at the police station.

Authorities conducted separate interviews with the two parties.

According to Danica, her uncle would touch her private parts, especially when she was asleep.

The girl is often left alone at home because her parents have to run errands at night.

Danica said her uncle would slip his hand into her underwear while she was asleep.

“There was one time when she tried to confront her uncle, but she was afraid because the latter would beat her up every time he’s angry,” Enad said in Cebuano.

Jun, though, denied the allegations in an interview with Superbalita Cebu.

Danica’s father told authorities that his younger brother has been a junkie for the

longest time.

He said Jun’s involvement with illegal drugs might have influenced him to make sexual advances toward his own niece.

Danica’s father, though, stood pat on his decision to file charges for child abuse and rape against his brother. / BBT, RTF
