Karaoke bar employee shot dead

AN EMPLOYEE of a karaoke bar in Mandaue City was shot dead near Quijano compound in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City past 1 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023.

The victim was identified as Orlando Ordez, 39, a resident of Sitio Sampaguita, Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

Staff Sergeant Leigh Vincent Gonzalve of Sawang Calero Police Station 6 said Ordez was walking in the area when he was shot by the gunman, who immediately fled after the incident.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds in his legpit and arm.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered from the crime scene spent shells of 9mm pistol, toy gun, a handcuff and six sachets of substance believed to be shabu from the victim’s belt bag.

Gonzalve said the gunman remains unidentified.

It was learned that the victim was selling spaghetti in the area, but since nobody bought the food, he decided to leave it and went to a nearby store to buy a bottle of Red Horse beer.

The victim’s mother, Merly, said her son was imprisoned for 15 years at the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City for illegal drug case.

The police hinted at personal grudge as the motive in the incident. (BBT/TPT)
